A family of cards
Medium. Terracotta Bricks and Binder
Year. 2016
Art to me is not just about the finished product, its more of a process one that is never ending and constantly evolving. My inspiration for this piece came from playing cards and the games we could play with them when we started to consider their materiality rather than that which is printed on them. So I started to play with the slices of bricks and built up many compositions. Due to the slight irregularities in the bricks that stem from the making process of the bricks, the overall composition is Asymmetrical and very fragile. This particular Composition was on display at the National College of Arts, Lahore for the Thesis display 2017 for over three weeks without any marker or separator dividing it from the public's reach but still the structure survived and remained intact. Proving at least to me that even the most fragile of things can survive if people handle them with just a little amount of care.
