The titel page for the GUCH presentation
The proposed site for the GUCH offices - This is a new building which is up ready and waiting for an organisation such as GUCH to move in and set up office. The raised flooring is fully accessible, hiding all the necessary electric cabling, this allows the power out-put to be positioned where ever required. A suspended ceiling is also already in place, this hides the other services such as the air circulation piping and the lighting cables.
The beginnings of the proposed brand identity for GUCH - Re-branded to be modern and up to date, to attract the attention and to be more inviting to prospect customers. The logo has then been developed into a header – that will appear on every official document etc. Then here we can see that the design has been continued, developed following the idea of the paper chains we make as children and how this maybe emotive and connect with the customers. I feel that this design connotes a harmonious community, ideal for this type of office space.
The mood board - Now looking more into the kind of atmosphere I want to create within this office space - we have a few examples of the offices that inspired me most for this project, including Google’s office in Russia and the Autodesk’s head office. Naturally it is quite bright and airy, so we could bring in a lot of plants, colour, different textures and patterns to create playful community feel with social hubs and private pods.
The reception area - Here we have entered the site, GUCH’s office. This is the reception area, with the reception desk on your right as you enter, behind here there is a shelving unit – this will be filled with personal objects, books photos, ornaments plants etc. to add to a homely feel to help people relax as they enter the space. We also begin to see the structures of the pods, and the office beyond.
Tea point and breakout area - This is the tea point and breakout area, with a kitchen area that leads to the seating, which is focused around the front glass atrium type corner. There is also a pod we can see though here, inside there is table and stools where people can have a more enclosed lunch or informal meeting.
The breakout area - Looking more into the breakout area, here we have entered this pod and can see more clearly the furniture within and the structure its self. This furniture is continued throughout the breakout area.
Advice and drop-in area - Advice and drop-in area, the negative space within the structure of this pod will hold privacy glass, which can be switched to opaque when required. Allowing this space to become private and concealed when meeting take place etc. The pillar here has been used to hold storage shelving.
The board room - The Board room, for meetings and presentations. We can see here that it can comfortably seat 14, that there is enough wall space for a projection or TV screen. On the right we can see the main design feature, this wall also contains privacy glass, the door is made from the same design so seems hidden by the continuation of this pattern, so as not to unnecessarily interrupt the repetitiveness of the design.
Admin office area - Here we are in the area where the admin staff will work. We have two desk groups of six, divided in the middle by a shelving unit, there is also more shelving on the back wall.
Incubation space 1 of 2 - Now in the incubation area we can see that at the end of each row of workstations, there is a shelving unit for extra storage. The workstations themselves are laid out so that that the workers have a sense of “their own space” the privacy screens are covered in three reoccurring patterns.
Incubation area 2 of 2 - Here more to the front area of the incubation space we can see the structures of the pods in the background. The layout/ desk arrangements are clearer.
The fundraising area - Fundraising area, holds twenty-two positions, this and the admin area is separated from the incubation space by a wall, this is to help with noise that comes from a call centre type area, which I would imagine could become distracting to those working on individual projects in the incubation area.
The floor plan - At the bottom of the plan is the prim area of this space, it has the largest windows and the best views, so this is why I chose to put the breakout and awareness space here, people will be able to come here and relax, this area is also near to the main entrance so is ideal for the awareness space - which I have kept as open as possible to allow for bigger functions and flexibility. The function/ awareness space could spread out and merged into the breakout area if and when required.
Each area of the GUCH office space - Here we can see where all the different areas are in relation to each other, from the reception and breakout area through to the admin and fundraisers areas.
