QUARTET HOUSE New Build Northumberland

This glue-lam and timber frame eco house sits on a hillside and enjoys panoramic views across the Allen Valley. The home takes the form of three pitched-roof structures organised as a horseshoe, crating a private walled garden in the centre.

Living spaces are spread across the building’s frontage to address key views south.

The sloped landscape of the valley is characterised by rocky outcrops, standing boulders and isolated stone buildings. The building is intentionally sunken into the ground and features deep stone walls to provide another stone presence in the landscape.

The house will achieve near Passive House standards, powered by ground source heat pumps and air heat recovery systems contained in the hub.
