When designing this bungalow conversion in Corbridge, Northumberland - the client asked Greatspace Architects to introduce dramatic angles and create a 'Hygge' style home.
'Hygge' is a Danish word that is a feeling or mood that comes taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful, beautiful or special.
We have attempted to achieve the client’s brief by creating one clean open plan living space with a rich collection of natural materials and neutral colours. The pitched roofs of the extension and the dormer will enlarge the views outward and reconnect the house to its beautiful landscaped garden. Large unbroken skylights will allow natural light to flood the internal spaces and provide dramatic views toward the raking sky above.
The internal layout has been rearranged to transform what was an unassuming bungalow into a generous 4 bedroom family home which will hopefully not only be good to look at, but a pleasure to live in and use.
