This is real in as much that it is a stone construction where the dreams of a victorian art architect, William Burges meet those of the richest man in the world and built a folly for John Crichton-Stuart the 3rd Marquess of Bute. His works echoing those of the Pre-Raphelites and heralding those of the Arts and Crafts Movement. A 19th century Gothic Revival castle, built on the remains of a 13thcentury fortification on a steep wooded hillside located at the mouth of theTaff Gauge,to the North of Cardiff in South Wales.
