Pure Escape Spa
Spring 2011
The objective of this project was to create a wellness spa where people can escape from the busy everyday life to a restful place. After exploring organizational concepts I found that a linear organization would work best. By imposing a linear organization it would make patrons follow the spa ritual. My character concept was the forest. A lot of people find the forest peaceful there it became my inspiration for the wellness spa. To create a feeling of being in the forest I used varying thickness of dark bamboo for the massage treatment walls to imitate tree bark. Modular Art was also used along walls to create a subtle tree bark feeling. Another important feature in the spa is the green walls in the reception area. The green walls purify the air and provide life to an indoor space. To maximize the natural light in the space, skylights were utilized in all areas of the space.
