Building 7 Community Centre Proposal

This project was inspired by attributes of mycelium, the vegetative part of a fungus and community development. Mycelium has the ability to remove pollutants from from soil and water, therefore filtering the compounds and making them safe to use again. I wanted to imitate that process by designing a space that would reuse a space that might be considered an unusable or even toxic. I chose an abandoned 90,000 square foot industrial building in Pointe Sainte Charles because community members recently bought it with the intention of turning it into a community centre. I designed a space in the building that would be used for teaching people about community development projects in hopes of encouraging fostering other community development projects.
