WILD

WILD, short for Wilderness Injury Lifesaving Device, was a conceptualized surgical device intended for use in emergency situations in isolated environments when medical personnel were not immediately available. I was the main engineering consultant on the project and was in charge of modelling the device using CAD software, making prototypes, interviewing key opinion leaders and market experts on the proposed usage and design of the device, and creating projected revenue models to research the potential demand and viability for such a product. With a design similar to a pocket knife, this pocket-sized tool included various medical tools including sutures, a scalpel, forceps, a hemostat, retractors, scissors and a LED flashlight. A unique, patent pending locking feature was used in the design to accompany the comfortable user interface.
