Gabrielle Solomon

This is my black and white portrait value study. For this piece I turned the photo black and white and posterized it in Photoshop. Then I traced the photo onto a white bristol board. I painted in the black first then I mixed black and gray paint to get dark gray and paint it in. Once I was done with the dark colors I mixed the white and gray paint to get the lighter shades painted. Finally I painted in the white in and painted in the value scale at the bottom.

This is a music album cover for the web series RWBY done on bristol paper. I used the symbols of the four main characters from the show. I chose the colors to represent each girl's individual theme song. I blended the colors I needed for each square on a pallet before painting so that the paint didn't dry on the paper too fast while blending the dark and light colors.
