Oxford pitt rivers print (December 2012)

The initial idea came to me when I visited the spirit room in the oxford natural history museum. In particular, I was interested in the form of the victorian glass jars on display and their history. I was told that these jars were specially manufactured to accommodate a specific type of exhibit. While being fascinated by the form of these jars, I was drawn to the snake exhibits and how they twirl and intertwine. I designed the print bearing this experience in mind: I attempted to give historical context to the glass jar by using kitsch floral patterns and by emphasising the pattern surface of the scales by giving it a graphic touch.
