Metallography
As a materials engineer metals are your best friend so knowing the bulk properties or metals and why they perform the way they do requires a large understanding of small scale characteristics. Metallography is the studying or mapping of materials' microstructures using light microscopy. Having already run the gauntlet that is my school's metals class I am an expert at preparing metallographic samples.
