For the to-go cups, I started off by using the same design as the back of the menu card. I wanted the cups to be recognizable even if the logo was not visible, as to-go cups makes great discreet advertising for a café. The version on the right has a bit of shading to make it look more realistic.
However, I found it dificult to add the logo to the patterned cups. Besides these two examples, I also experimented with adding a non-patterned diamond shape behind the logo, in order to make it stand out more.
So I started experimenting with using only a gradient, no pattern. The template is that of a real to-go cups, which I tried using in order to get a feel of the 360° design.
I found that the to-go cup template made it harder for me to viasualize how the cup would look in the end, so for prototyping purposes, I went back to designing on the image of the cup.
As you can see, I experimented quite a bit with the logo placement on the cup.
In order to make the designs more fun and bold, I decided to make the smaller-size cup another color-scheme. Since the large cup matched the top-half of the menu card, I made the smaller cup the same colors as the bottom-half, in order to create consistency across the branding. Playing around with the lines wrapping around the cup, I also discovered that I liked these looser, more free lines better. I didn't want my design to become too streamlined.
This, however, became too loose in its expression and didn't look modern enough to me.
