Spare, Concept Dog Toy for OllyDog, 2004 - This multi-tasking dog toy provides entertainment for a dog when her owner is away, as she tries to get the dog treats wedged in peanut butter out from the cavities inside the toy. It is also the perfect weight and size for an energetic game of catch, and is made from recycled high density polyethylene, which floats. I designed the toy in ProEngineer for a relatively simple injection molding process.
Flywings, Costumes for Flyswat, 2000 - From 1999 to 2001 I owned a small home-based costume and craft design. For my business’ largest project, I designed and produced 40 economical fly wing sets for the company Flyswat, an internet company purchased by NBCi, to wear at the Webbys, the Internet award ceremony. To build the wings, I used Asian papers with fly-wing veins of glue for detail and structural support. The wings were accompanied by curly foot-long antennae that could be seen floating above the crowds.
Craft.com Design Project Creator, 2000 - Another project I undertook while working for myself was the creation of craft projects and written content for Craft.com. This is a clay vase project that was featured on Craft.com's preview website. Craft.com then created “project kits” that could be purchased through the website and included all materials necessary to create the craft.
