After: the kitchen area doubled by taking over the dining space and there was room for the dining table in the living area.
After: the main kitchen space has beautiful natural cherry cabinets & the raised section are a darker cherry stain to coordinate with the dining table.
After: the two toned island is about as long as possible without a seam in the quartz.
Before: there is a kitchen behind that wall.
Before: the lack of storage and counterspace means that there is always clutter.
Before: the angled walls make the layout awkward.

Groovy to Gigantic

This kitchen hadn't been touched since the 70s, and while the flooring was in pristine condition, the layout was not working. There were angled walls closing the kitchen off from the rest of the living space & making an awkward layout.

DESIGN SOLUTION: The walls were not load bearing, so they came down to create a GREAT room with a huge island. The previous living room was long enough to have room for a sitting area and a dining table, so we turned the previous dining area into part of the kitchen. The new kitchen has a dedicated pantry and broom closet. These homeowners often host Thanksgiving, and it's hard to believe that was possible when you look at the before photos.
