50 Ways of Seeing an Object

When thinking about what to visually study 50 different ways for this project, I wanted to choose something that could take many forms, could be manipulated, is accessible, fun, and offers compelling photographic options, such as action shots. Paper planes quickly came to mind.

This exercise forced me to look deeper and think more creatively and more abstractly. After the first 25 images, I couldn’t imagine being able to come up with 25 more. I surprised myself by generating what I feel are my strongest images after the initial 25! This kind of exercise is valuable in all forms of design, such as my own field of industrial design, where we are usually asked to generate as many ideas as possible.

Image editing was done in Photoshop. The layout was made with InDesign, then brought back into Photoshop for finishing/effect work.
