I wanted to document the sheer emotional impact of ambition and the ensuing stress on a young girl; through which facial expressions are the most revealing. In the series, I chose to focus less on the actual achievement, but more on the internal impact of the journey.

Gratitude Photo Essay
As a photographer, I documented what many of the privileged have to be thankful for. We are presented with a world abound with opportunity, and life is beautiful and open for the taking. I tried to capture one girl’s emotionally tumultuous journey to attain the object of her desire (in this case, a college acceptance letter.) My artwork speaks to both the stress and elation associated with accomplishment. As I have discovered first hand, performing up to par with one’s own standards can prove both mentally and physically exhausting, yet ultimately worth the effort.
