By collaborating with architects working on the community design of Prospect Park, located east of the University of Minnesota Campus, and through an analysis of the neighborhood, it was discovered that the steep topography made aging in place a challenge. The design of a walking route geared toward promoting the health and integration of the elderly was intended to complement the community’s future development plans for Prospect Park 2020. Senior mobility and access to current and future community amenities and outdoor spaces were the focus. The various elements of Senior Circuit include a walking path, a railing, seating, design improvements to Tower Hill Park, and renovations to the pedestrian bridge over Highway 94.
