Depth of Field (DOF) is the area in a photograph that is in focus. Panorama shots have a high depth of field, where the foreground, middle ground, and background, are in focus. Macro on the other hand, has a shallow depth of field, and only a small portion of the photo is in focus. Depth of field is controlled by aperture size, and the larger the aperture, the more shallow the focus.
