Twintex (polypropylene and glass fiber) 2010

Practical Table

This table was constructed using a completely collapsible mold that is wrapped in twintex fiber and baked in an oven until the polypropylene flows and bonds with the glass fiber to produce a rigid form. The design for the table was dictated by the material and production processes that we were able to use. I wanted to highlight the strength of the individual string as well as the ability to create something so large yet still weigh under a pound.
