Letup

Letup is an isolating lamp designed for Scandinavian etiquette. In public spaces it is typical to find a seat between each table tenant, never across or adjacent to each other. Letup is a commercial hanging light for the lobby or lounge which divides the space to optimize the seating arrangement. To further isolate the tenants from each other, the pressed-felt body of the fixture acts as a sound absorber to help control the acoustics in the space.

Letup belongs to a line of furniture designed without traditional fastening methods and created from flat materials. Each part has been bent, formed, or kerfed from its planar existence into its dimensional shape. All materials are joined with a new cable stitching technique which uses the “thread” tension to create structure.

This product was designed for the 2018 Salone del Mobile Milano as a first year masters project at Lund University.
