I chose a picture of The Cleveland Agora to manipulate for this poster, changing the sign to Trio's and adding the show information on a sign on the side of the building. FED UP was added to the brick, with an effect to look like it was painted on the building itself. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Since MoDe is a local project in movement in sound, involving dancing with backing improvisational music, I used the Triade (The Triade, Triskele, or Triple Spiral, is an ancient Celtic symbol, suggesting a fluid movement of time), and contorted dancers. I also created the MoDe logo, which flows from one end to the other, showing constant movement. ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE

The Cleveland-Detroit Free Improv Summit was a music project and art show that brought both Cleveland and Detroit musicians together. I chose art pieces that seemed to represent free-flowing abstract improvisation. The largest poster is the one that was chosen, the smaller are 3 variations not used. ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE

The GO Factory holds art shows and small music shows monthly in Cleveland, Ohio. This poster design was for an October music show, showcasing local artists as well as German pianist Simone Weißenfels. Because if the season and the special guest being German, I thought Nosferatu would be the perfect imagery for this particular show. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR.

Oblique Orchestra is an improvisational free-jazz group, and to me all 3 of these band names had a space vibe to them. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR

Guide to Kulchur is a Cleveland, Ohio book, magazine, and periodicals shop that doubles as a co-op workshop for fanzines (zines), hand-made books, and other printed ephemera. It also hosts music events for local bands and musicians. This poster was for a night of music with Curt Oren (solo saxophone from Iowa City), Kris "skinnyK" Morron & Dan Wenninger (guzheng and saxophone improvisations), and Rob Galo (solo prepared guitar). I wanted to create something a little "out there" with the design, and found this really cool medical drawing and "Brain Salt" (What is brain salt??) imagery. I combined them for an end result that I am really happy with, as were the musicians.

Guide to Kulchur is a Cleveland, Ohio book, magazine, and periodicals shop that doubles as a co-op workshop for fanzines (zines), hand-made books, and other printed ephemera. It also hosts music events for local bands and musicians. Convergence was a free improv symposium, and featured stalwarts of the Ohio free music scene (from Columbus and Cleveland). I wanted to make this poster very retro in style and use more colors than I usually go with. I think it was very successful, and the musicians loved it.
