Wild mustangs fighing
I call this horse Ghost he kind of shows up randomly and then disappears from the mustang herd I watch. I took this close shot to show people how tough and hardy these animals really are. Most people see these photos and ask if they are really wild horses because the animals truly are beautiful. When you look closely especially at the older horses like Ghost here you can see how gritty and battle scarred they can become in the wild. If you look closely at Ghost's nose you can see a fresh bite wound and slices down his neck most likely from a mountain lion.
A kick from a horse with shoes on can be extremely painful (I know from personal experience. ) wild horses have never seen shoes or a farrier and their hooves can be very sharp and jagged.
