This hybrid golf club was custom made for Phil Mickelson in 2009. With Phil’s guidance, I designed the club to his exacting specifications. The narrower sole promotes divots, more like an iron in the fairway. It also provides more versatility allowing him to hit shots with a wide range of face angles.
Here are some CAD views and a cut-away shot showing the positioning of the weight. The part was machined in Callaway’s prototype shop from a solid block of stainless steel. The crown piece was then welded in place and polished to a smooth finish... ready for paint.
After serving as Project Leader, the RAZR Hawk driver won a Gold Medal Award in Golf Digest's Hot List for 2011. I had key involvement in all phases of the project from idea to successful production.
This CAD view shows the back weight design for the RAZR Hawk driver. The main part was designed in NX (Unigraphics) and then the diamond pattern was wrapped onto the surface using Alias.

The RAZR Fit driver won the Editor's Choice Award in Golf Digest's 2012 Hot List. I led the Industrial Design team responsible for its creation. The club has two adjustable features to respond to the needs of different golfer types.
I served as Project Leader on this Gold Medal Award winner in Golf Digest's 2009 Hot List. The FT-9 driver was designed in two different configurations (neutral and draw) to promote different ball flights.
The FT-5 driver won the coveted Editor’s Choice Award in Golf Digest's 2007 Hot List. This was my first major driver project with Project Leader responsibilities at Callaway Golf.
