Design in Light: art and design floor lamp
Floor lamp
This was one of the briefs set during my second year of Derby University. The task was to come up with; an initial design concept, 3D SoildWorks CAD model, visualisation board, engineering drawings and a showcase animation for a lighting product. The brief was based around the design in light competition although projects were not entered into the competition. The project was very focused on the; tactility, ergonomics, usability and user interaction with the product. For my lighting idea I designed a floor lamp aimed at art and design students that would provide different lights to illuminate either the entire desk or just illuminate a spot light in certain areas or on an object. The lamp had a dial allowing the user to change colour and type of light arrangement to suit what they were working on (arrangements include: a wide beam bright white light, a softer blue wide beam light, green spot lights, or red spot lights)
