World Harmony at UO MNCH

World Harmony was on view at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History from June 28, 2009 to January 13, 2010.

As part of the Exhibits team I participated in research, writing and editing, edited photos, and fabricated and installed many acrylic and fabric mounts.

The exhibit featured 70+ instruments from MNCH collections and borrowed from local musicians and community members. I handled the loan paperwork for all borrowed instruments, making sure they were documented and insured according to State of Oregon regulations as UO is a State entity.

We wanted to ensure that visitors had a chance to touch and hear, not just see, the instruments. I was tasked with procuring and maintaining a variety of hands-on instruments, and tracking down bulletproof systems to play video and audio. The digital photo frames, reprogrammable audio stations and headphones I chose have been reused in many several subsequent exhibitions, and kicked off a fruitful vendor relationship.
