The Mandi Project
Mandis are wholesale food markets, which form an essential link in the food supply chain between the farmers and final consumers in India. To regulate the middlemen (adhatees in hindi) in the supply chains , Mandi samities were formed to ensure fair deal to the farmers and the buyers. Today the role of the mandi samities stands changed over the years as it has moved away from the welfare of the farmers, marred by corruption and unhealthy practices.
The project had its scope within user centered research , system design and re-design, policy and architecture.
