The Level 3 - Interior Project Architect/Technical Lead is responsible for ensuring design intent is carried through to the built environment through technical leadership, production management, consultant coordination, and leading construction administration activities. The position works to ensure quality assurance, quality control and compliance with regulations.
The Level 3 - Interior Project Architect/Technical Lead is able to turn design concepts into beautifully detailed and inspired documentation and built environments. The position demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, ensuring effective meetings, production organization and high-quality teamwork. The position requires advanced technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate and solve problems independently and creatively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Project Leadership and Communication
Collaborates with the full project team from programming through construction administration to ensure the design intent is carried through the delivery of the project.
Ensures proactive, trustworthy, effective and efficient communications between the internal team, the consultant team, and the contractor team.
Listens to, analyzes, and develops a thorough understanding of client problems in order to develop solutions being mindful of project budget and schedule.
Advises on project schedule and team, adheres to the schedule as the project progresses, and communicates with the project team as milestones or deadlines are met or change.
Leads project team members responsible for producing documentation during schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
Coordinates project execution with consultants, engineers (Structural, MEP, Lighting, AV), general contractors, and subcontractors.
Leads project team members assisting with Construction Administration or independently completes the tasks e.g. preparing Bulletins, responding to RFIs, punch list activities.
Design and Technical Leadership
Contributes to the development of design concepts for projects of all types and scales; develops design solutions to unforeseen conditions as they arise.
Uses freehand sketching, computer, and graphic resources to effectively and efficiently analyze and convey design concepts or solutions.
Provides technical leadership, research and assistance to complete production efforts to meet project design goals.
Assembles and analyzes resource data including existing condition drawings, code analysis, etc.
Coordinates with code consultant to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and applicable regulations, drawing from comprehensive knowledge of applicable codes.
Determines the feasibility of design alternatives and determines those alternatives most appropriate for project constraints.
Applies knowledge of alternative construction materials, assemblies, and sustainable technology to the design.
Documentation and Quality Control
Establishes project documentation plan e.g. cartoon set, coordination of office standards, BIM procedures, etc.; manages digital content e.g. BIM, submittals, diagrams, etc.
Seeks out and uses best available technology and processes to keep project documentation on schedule.
Holds responsibility for quality control of project work in order to minimize risk for the firm
Participates in quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) initiatives and projects within the firm to ensure tools and information are readily available to others.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS
Bachelor’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or a B.Arch
Five (5) years of experience as an interior designer/architect in a client services firm
Professional design portfolio
Actively pursuing NCIDQ certification or architecture license
Sustainable Building Materials certified
LEED GA
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS
Master’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program or a M.Arch
NCIDQ certified or Registered Architect
