Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Provide Computer Aided Design (CAD) support and expertise for Industrial Design and Design Model Shop. Develop credible CAD files that can be used for the development of design concepts, as well as final design intent to engineering and other process partners in an efficient manner. CAD expertise includes investigation and proficiencies in the areas of traditional and additive manufacturing.

Industrial Design CAD Support - Collaborate with Industrial Designers to understand project scope and needs. As assigned, assist designers in creating solutions by using the best and most appropriate methods available to create 3-dimensional CAD models of appearance parts. Correctly interpret design intent from various inputs like hand sketches or rough CAD. Understand and utilize 3D scanning of hand-built models. Give particular attention to “A” surface geometry of CAD. Assist Designers with CAD deliverables best suited for specific manufacturing methods. Assist Designers with information and development of CAD related to Additive Manufacturing. Support the organization and storage of design CAD.

CAD and DfAM Advancement - Self-driven to be educated with the advancements in CAD and DfAM (design for additive manufacturing). Present to Design staff and other process partners new benefits and advancements in CAD and DfAM. Collaborate with various project teams as assigned in the areas of CAD and DfAM.

Model Shop CAD Support - Collaborate with the Design Model Shop in the interpretation of design intent information in the form of prints, drawings, sketches, electronic CAD, and verbal communication. Assist Model Shop with CAD support for model builds with manipulation of data, part break up, and or creation of new data specific to Model Shop deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
5 years of related work experience (Salary will be commensurate with applicable experience)
Strong current CAD skills with complex surface experience (NX preferred)
Highly collaborative approach with sensibilities regarding design intent and aesthetics
Good verbal and written communication skills with basic presentation skills
Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%)
Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday
