A combination of manual and automated layouts were used in this annual meeting onsite program. Automating the formatting for much of the event information not only cut production time, but also allowed the client extra time to finalize event details.
The automation was accomplished through use of style sheets and variable X-Data in Quark. This designer collaborated with the client’s database management company, who provided the X-Data programming. [Automated layouts can also be done in InDesign.]
The At-A-Glance section contained custom page layouts for plenary sessions and automated pages for breakout sessions grouped by day, time and theme.
Detailed Program Description pages, which included session descriptions and speaker names, were automated as were the Speaker Index pages with photos, bios and session information.
