3D Typographic Holiday Card - Interests in typography and three-dimensional paper sculpture were combined for this personal holiday card. Four words related to the winter holiday season and containing the letter “o” were selected for the message -- love, joy, hope, and solace. The “o” of each word was placed at the pivot point of two interlocking triangles to create this three-dimensional card that mailed flat.
Designs for Theater - These print designs for theater were created pro-bono. The designs were intended to prepare the audience for the particular adaptation they were about to see. The design direction was established through talking with the director about the play and his or her approach to it. Bent took place in a Nazi concentration camp and told a story of gay prisoners who were considered to be lower than Jews. To demonstrate this barbed wire was morphed into the Jewish star then an upside down triangle.
Designs for Theater - Chips was a new play about a totalitarian dictatorship. The design was modeled on soviet Russian graphics. This production of Two Gentlemen of Verona was set in a central american country and featured a soundtrack from LPs of classic latin music. The director was particularly interested in using figures from one of the albums in the print design.
Origami-Folded Fundraiser Invitation - For this fundraising benefit, the theater company had a modest printing budget, but offered to do handwork to make the invitation look special. A relatively simple origami fold was selected and the invitation was designed to give the theater company clues to where they needed to fold.
