New Life Forms / gravitational bio:design

New Life Forms / gravitational bio:design (2013) is an experimental project by Dario Martini and Isabella Loddo (RIDID) concerning the growth of different life forms on dynamic, 3-dimensional supports, in order to develop self-sustaining eco-systems, suitable for research and disaster recovery scenarios.
Through design research, the project reconsiders the tools, methods and equipment of biology, taking inspiration from research in medicine and astronautics.
It has been showcased first at the Fuorisalone 2013 in Milan, with a 3-part exhibition focusing on culture supports, artificial gravity and autonomous eco-systems.
