Southfield Road is at the heart of the campus. It provides access routes to many of the university buildings and used to host a continuous flow of traffic. My proposals show that traffic would be removed and instead be fully pedestrianised. This would allow Southfield Road to become a safer, and more sociable environment. New concept lighting would be introduced which would provide both safe street lighting, and entertainment lighting for the pubs and bars that line the street. This newly created Avenue could also provide space for temporary structures such as exhibitions, union related events, advertising campaigns, social meeting places, creating an environment for student recreation to expand and thrive.
