Squirrel - clutter collecting robot
I was approached by IDMind to develop the external shell for the SQUIRREL research project. The aim of the project was to develop a robotic platform to collect, sort and organize clutter in unstructured domestic settings. The base scenario was toy cleaning and sorting, where the robot learned to collect toys scattered on the floor, and then stowed them in designated target locations.
The main challenge from a product design perspective was to enclose the industrial robotic platform provided by Kuka, and giving it a friendly look without loosing functionality.
