Tool and Fixture Design
These are three hand drawn drawings created for Interstate Technical Institute,
The Grooving Bar creates a internal groove for a snap ring. Section B-B cuts through the tool steel that creates the groove. The grooving tool is recessed until item #3 is brought to bear against the shoulder of item #1.
The die cuts out a central hole, blanks the outside contour and forms up the I.D. to create a flange. It is completely mechanical using spring strippers, knockout rod and pressure plate.
The fixture is used to hold a part to finish bore the I.D. A loose plug locates on the rough I.D. and the part rests on 4 pins.
A clamp holds the part and the plug is removed. The fixture base has keys for location.
