Qmera
Qmera is a digital camera designed for kids. In general, the ergonomics of the traditional camera is designed for adults or professionals who are concerned with the quality and aesthetics of the image. Holding the camera with two hands provides users with stability and advanced operation at the same time.
However, kids just want to have fun. They simply want to arbitrarily capture an image they see. They take a photo for fun rather than to create great artwork. A traditional camera therefore does not suit the demands of a child. As a result, I designed Qmera, which can be held in one hand. Its interface is friendly, so kids can enjoy taking photos with more freedom.
The initial design was done in 2009, the first year of my Design for Industry course. At that time, some of my design skills, such as CAD and rendering, were not yet mature. In four years’ time, when I looked back on my previous work, I refined and improved this design to improve its visual communication.
