AFTER: Keeping the basic layout the same allowed for high quality cabinets loaded with accessories. The new blind corner had a pull-out that avoided wasted space or the need to unload it to reach the back and a tray base cabinet next to the stove gave a place for her many baking sheets.
AFTER: Now a traditional stove and overhead microwave fits into the space and a landing space on both sides allows to ease during cooking.
AFTER: We removed the closet located next to the stove previously which was partial pantry and partial storage for the broom and cleaning supplies. Now the large cabinet on the left has roll-out trays for maximum storage and the cabinet to the right holds the broom, ironing board, and other items. Cabinetry above the washer and dryer provided additional storage and helped to tie the space together.
BEFORE: The fridge stuck out into the space dramatically and the bulkhead and dark cabinetry made the space feel very small.
BEFORE: Originally designed in the 1950's the stove and overhead microwave were much larger than traditional stoves. Finally on their last leg, the replacement of those items spawned the kitchen remodel.

Traditional Kitchen remodel

The heart of any good home is the kitchen, and for the Chapman's their kitchen was no exception. The kitchen was still mostly original to the late 1950's ranch and in desperate need of any update. Removing the bulkhead and adding new lighter stained cabinetry, updated appliances, quartz counters, wood laminate flooring, and a stone backsplash helped to bring this kitchen an updated look suited to this wonderful couple in their 70's.
