Skiers Thumb Guard.
Skiers thumb is the 2nd most common ligament injury in the sport, and currently makes up 8-10% of all ski related injuries, what it is exactly is the stretching or tearing of the ulna collateral ligament of the MCP joint, which is the inner thumb ligament
The most common cause is falling with a ski pole in your hand and your thumb outstretched, this causes the ligament to over extend and tear or stretch, if this happens there is usually a minimum recovery period of at least 6 weeks, a long time for a skier considering the ski season only lasts a few months, this injury is most common in inexperienced Skiers who haven’t been taught the correct technique when falling.
Overall the product was designed to be discrete and to have next to no effect on the way the user ski, but still be strong enough to support the thumb and reduce the chance of injury.
The hand used to model the glove was taken from GrabCad and was used for modeling purposes only.
