SuperCAPS

Every year we use and dispose of millions of batteries, all of which contain heavy metal, and many of which are used in toys. The intent of SuperCAPS is to have an environmentally sustainable toy that combines the aesthetics of green design (using sustainably farmed wood, soy inks, etc) and an electronic toy. The key technology at play is the use of super capacitors, which unlike regular batteries, charge almost intanstaniously. They actually charge at an exponentially slower rate, never reaching true capacity. They have a cycle life 10-20 times greater than batteries. Most super capacitors are small enough to fit most form factors, but very soon will be made in variable shapes and sizes including as thin and small as a postage stamp.
