Umbrella Stand

A wooden umbrella stand that is made out of Douglas Fir is meant to be able to accommodate umbrellas in a variety of sizes and catch water dripping from the wet umbrellas.

Cardboard models to realize the dimensions
Molds for bending wood
Used table saw to saw the wood into 1/16" veneers
Hand planed both ends of the veneers to create taping
Placed planed veneers in steam box for an hour and half to make the wood absorb the hot moisture and be flexible enough to bend around the mold
Veneers around the mold
Used vacuum bag to bend the sides of the umbrella stand to match the curves
