Enjoy The Unkown was accomplish with watercolor and pastels. The final semester project in my Illustration class. The project was to put a human figure in a background. I thought to have a figure in space interaction with a creature so I can challenge myself to create my own world. This painting heavily reflects my interest with Sci-fiction and character designing.
This was my first entry for a wine label contest. I wanted my painting to be inviting to audience. Since it was meant to be a wine label. I incorporated a charming women holding a wine glass. The idea is basic but I knew the drawing was going to be surreal. The surreal aspect of my painting was inspire by Gustav Klimt. His portrait of the female body and richly patterned landscape help me conjure my Alluring Night Scape painting. The painting was done with mix media. First was trace until I had a final pencil sketch. Then I transfer it to cold pressed paper. I painted the drawing using watercolor. Finally I scan the image to clean up any smears and add the final effects of the stars in Photoshop. I am very content with my painting because of the amount of work I put to make a finish work.
This is a Illustration of a animal/creature in a landscape I had to create in my Illustration class. The creature I made is an alien I came up for the assignment and my personal interest in concept creation. The painting was done with watercolor and chalk pastels. This was my first experiment using chalk pastels on a painted surface. The chalk pastel substituted as a great way to make glowing special affect. I consider it to be the first try out in character creation and mix media.
