Low Cost Store Concept - Starbucks expansion into secondary markets required efforts to lower store costs which were explored and tested in this store and others in the Portland area. Cost, maintenance, life-span, and aesthetics were all considered in the test which included the use of Marmoleum and stained concrete flooring, MDF casework, stained OSB wall panels, and gypsum board arch'l elements. The look of this store and many of the elements shown here became Starbucks options that spread across the country.
