This is the poster before the restoration began. The Day the Earth Stood Still... badly damaged. Original 6 sheet poster needed much paper patching and airbrush restoration over 90% of the original. Only two billboards of this size exist so client wanted it restored before selling at Christie's.
The Day the Earth Stood Still finished - Size is approximately Six feet by Seven feet. Entire surface has been airbrushed over. Showcased in "Christie's" Auction magazine. Sold to a private collector.

closeup. The lettering was done by hand using pencils and airbrushing around the type.
The army of men had to be restored completely by hand since there was no image area left on the original. I recreated the images from looking at a 8" x 10" photo of the original. I had to use a photo Lupe to see what little details I could glean and then just make up the rest.
