The first stage of the design process was to identify user needs, or what is expected/preferred when taking a shower and what factors determine whether one shower head will be purchased over another on the market.
I then began exploring products currently existing on the market, identifying the design aspects of each that appealed to me that allowed me to meet my design goal. Particularly, I took inspiration from grooming and bathing tools used for reaching/cleaning the back.

Idea for concept exploration
I began exploring various concepts by sketching designs on paper.
After determining the most viable and appealing design to meet my goal, I sketched my final design. The shower head as displayed is shaped similarly to a backscratcher. Water pours from silicone bumps in the head. This surface may also be used to clean and massage the back. The handle is designed from a smooth silicone material. The user may fill the connected "Thermos" with their shower gel or soap which then dispenses through the silicone bumps along with the water. The shower head may also be used conventionally when clamped to the holder attached to the wall and rotated to adjust to the desired position.

Personal Design Project - "Backscratcher" Shower Head

The focus of this project was to design a shower head capable of cleaning the back, typically overlooked and left uncleaned when using a conventional shower head and sponges. I took inspiration from the backscratcher, a simple but effective tool allowing one to reach their back with ease without assistance.
