Design of a Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Model

The aim of the project was to develop a model of a utility-scale Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) generation system focusing on the technical and economic aspects of the subsystem components. It was determined that the model would serve as a tool for optimizing and designing the fundamental components of a CSP system based on the location, season and parameter specifications. Excel was selected as the software in which to construct the model. The model consists of 5 spreadsheets, each addressing a separate function of a CSP system. The spreadsheets link to each other and analyze the weather specifications, collector field, storage system, power block and associated costs.
