The imPRESS is a new kind of iron that is portable and safer to use. With a safe-to-touch heated platen and a vapor mist, rather than hot steam, this product is safer to use than a traditional iron or steamer. I worked with a private inventor to develop this product from breadboard concept to production-ready mechanical design. The greatest consideration was product size, so I had to keep the volume small, while balancing available water volume, PCB placement, usability, airflow through the product, water vs. vapor egress and general manufacturability. The product has now been through user testing and the inventor is in the process of launching the product. I have included some images of the functional prototypes.
