Hand-built
I am including two projects from when I was in college because they show initiative and creativity: an electro-mechanical spoiler and a FSAE race car body.
The first is my own personal project. I designed and hand-built an electromechanical spoiler for my car. I tied it into the brake light circuit and had it actuate on braking. I used a gear-motor to increase the torque and to have a slow rotation up and down. It is made of a foam core with a fiber-glass hand-laid case.
The second is the body for a Kettering University Formula SAE car. I created the sketches and presented them to the FSAE team. They wanted to move forward with the design, so I joined the team and was responsible for the build of the body panels along with another team member. The panels are a hand-laid carbon fiber.
