The Historic Chicago Greystone

The City Design Center is a multi-disciplinary program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, serving as an advocate and resource for design research and practices. As a response to the wide-spread disrepair of Chicago’s greystones, the Center produced The Historic Chicago Greystone, which offers comprehensive instructions to maintain and restore a Greystone home.

The goal was to design a clear and appealing page layout, to demystify technical details into a concise, informative, and easy to implement format. Bold headlines and ample white space establish a clean look. A variety of images provide visual reference for step-by-step instructions. Precise guidelines highlight key features and strengthen the message. Each element serves a specific purpose, integrating pace, accessibility, and understanding of technical data into a practical experience.
