KARIN'S KIDS ACADEMY
The brief was to create a fairytale around an isolated 1920's building located in between trees. First we had to restore the existing and then to add two more wings to support the full kindergarten architectural program. The intent was to keep as much as possible from the interbellum atmosphere with a tweak for creating a safe environment for kids.
By adding the two volumes (the canteen and few more classrooms), the full idea takes shape - that of a caring hand holding something precious for protection - a metaphor for the kids being protected by their educators. The new finishes are in contrast with the old-looking render from the existing volume - they consist of wooden vertical planks - a reminiscence of the forest from around the building.
