Project looking at ways to enhance the commuting experience on the Glasgow subway, in collaboration with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

The current Glasgow subway system is inaccessible to many people, and the experience can often feel stressful and claustrophobic. The concept is to dramatically redesign the subway.

The whole of the train’s side could open, allowing travellers to move easily on and off of the trains. Central seating would create an open, comfortable environment. Large screens inside the trains would make travelling by subway a fun and interactive experience. Ramps could fold down onto the platforms, making the trains accessible to wheelchair users. A ‘sky’ roof lets travellers virtually see the passing landmarks as they travel by them.

This concept would create a subway system that drastically improves access, interaction and the travelling experience.
