This was a three part project in which we were assigned the task of creating an interactive 3D model, paper cut graphic translation, and 2-piece booklet spread to portray an animal of our choice. My animal for this project was the tapir. For part I, our structures were made out of recycled plastic materials. I focused on finding objects that already resembled features of a tapir so that I could create a form that portrayed its most significant qualities with as little manipulation of the material as possible. Parts II and III guided us to create more simplified and 2D representations of our animals. We explored texture, color, size, and placement, among other compositional elements, and finally had to come up with a brief written message that brought awareness to recycling and related to our selected animals.
